December 15th marks the very first release of Tales of Phantasia, marking the entire series' anniversary as a whole.
Twenty nine years ago today, Tales of Phantasia was first released in Japan for the Super Famicom. We celebrate today as the very beginning of the Tales of Series, and the series 29th anniversary! And let's not forget, today is also the Tales of the Abyss 19th anniversary!
"Stories that never fade no matter how many years pass.
Adventures that you want to live through again and again.
Now, once again revel in the stories---"
The 29th anniversary also paves the road for the 30th anniversary celebration, happening the period of 2025 to 2026. To begin the celebration, the official Tales Channel Twitter will be releasing a series of new illustrations of the series protagonists. They have already started with Cless Alvein/Cress Albane from Tales of Phantasia:
"Turning his tears of sorrow into a sword,
the boy now transcends time..."
As per the teaser image, it seems new artwork will be released in succession, although we're not sure how often it will be.
In addition, a Tales of Series 30th Anniversary Project live stream will be held on December 16th, with more details here.
