In the world of Telka Lumiles, only few people know of what lies beyond their city gates. The people, afraid of the monsters and the dangers that roam outside the city, stay hidden within the confines of a barrier that keeps the monsters from entering. The source of life, Earu, has become unstable, and over-exposure to it has caused the monsters to become much more ferocious. The balance of their world has been disrupted, and the people have no choice but to rely on these barriers produced by relics called Blastias.
The hero of this game, Yuri, used to be one of the few people who could get out of the city as a knight. Due to some conspiracies with the goverment though, he chose to leave his post and work within a guild he started himself instead, known as Brave Vesperia, leaving his childhood friend Flynn within the knighthood. Aside from his intention to help out the people with the guild, he is also a bit jealous of Flynn's privilege to venture out into the world.
One day, the Core of the Blastia that produces the water supply for the people in town gets stolen, and people are in panic. Yuri, about to step out of town at that time, realizes the trouble within and goes to check up on what's happening. After an event that gets him in prison, Yuri meets Estellieze, a young healer and swordswoman who resides in the castle, forbidden to leave the castle grounds.
And thus, the journey of these two now begin...
