  >>Tales of the Tempest is a Tales game for the Nintendo DS that was mostly developed by Dimps, explaining its sudden downgrade against the previous Tales series (ToP's better than this, I assure you). This is also the first main Tales game to be released for the Nintendo DS, but seeing as how bad the ratings it got are, we won't be expecting a US release any time soon. Its opening theme is VS, by misono, the lead vocalist of Day After Tomorrow.

  >>In the continent of Areura, a race of beasts known as Lycanths are said to live. The Lycanth was known for their technological advancements, having one of their so-called inventions, the forbidden technology, killing their civilization. This forbidden technology caused the "Beast War", so the leaders decided to hand over the rule to the humans, which was then a small and weak group. As the Lycanth's population diminished, the humans continued on and rebuilt the nation.
%nbsp This tragedy then led to the humans despising the Lycanth. They established the "Lycanth Hunt", a way to kill all of the remaining Lycanth's in the world.
Young Caius Qualls is nothing more but an ordinary child living at a certain village. The arrival of an injured knight at his village awakens him to the truth that he is not human, but one of the Lycanth. Accompanied by his friend Rubia Natwick, he sets off on a journey in search of his real parents, as well as to discover the cause of all the conflict in Areura.

  >>This game is a LET DOWN for the Tales series. Namco shouldn't have entrusted this to Dimps. Bad move indeed.
Opening: What the heck is this? Since WHEN did a Tales game have in-game scenes in its opening movie? I mean, it would've been alright if the in-game scenes actually matched the song, but no, it was a let down. And to think the song VS was great too... And most of the scenes didn't really fit the song too...
Graphics: Mario has better graphics than this. It would've been better if this game was made into 2D instead, like ToE. Heck, even that FF game for the DS is better.
Gameplay: For a big world map, this game sure has a very low encounter rate. And why is the character able to move around the overworld so quickly? Seems like making the exploration area huge was a wasted effort. Also, there are no hi-ougis... And where's the grade rating?
Replay: There's no New Game +, so don't bother.
Although this game may seem a let down, an avid Tales fan wouldn't really let these things hinder the gameplay excitement. Indeed, the storyline is intriguing enough to make a person hooked on this short-lived DS game. Despite the reviews, the game still can keep you from dying out of boredom.

After finally having time to have a go at actually playing it for more than an hour (last time was 10 minutes :P), I decided to reconsider the grade I gave. Okay, it's not that bad, but it's not that good either.
