He became an assistant of manga artist Tatsuya Egawa on the Be Free! manga, and he later started his own manga in 1986, the popular You're Under Arrest. It was his work on the manga and anime Ah! My Goddess that made him popular throughout the world. His other works include eX-Driver and Sakura Taisen.
